Size & Fit Guide
Our vests are designed to bring soft structure to everyday dressing. Each piece is made with layering in mind, allowing enough room to wear comfortably over shirts, T-shirts, roll necks, or fine knitwear without feeling bulky.
Most Momentum Vests are cut with a relaxed, modern fit. This means they are designed to sit slightly away from the body, giving the garment shape while still feeling easy and wearable. The fit should feel polished rather than tight, with enough space through the chest, armholes, and hem for natural movement.
Choosing Your Size
We recommend choosing your usual size for a clean everyday fit. This will give you a balanced silhouette that works well for both casual and smarter styling.
If you prefer a more oversized or editorial look, size up. This works especially well if you want to layer your vest over a crisp shirt, wear it with wide-leg trousers, or create a more relaxed proportion.
If you prefer a neater, closer fit, size down. This is best for wearing the vest over a light base layer or styling it as a more fitted top.
How the Vest Should Fit
A well-fitting vest should sit comfortably across the shoulders without pulling. The armholes should allow room for layering, but should not feel too wide or loose. The hem should sit naturally at the waist, hip, or lower body depending on the style.
Cropped vests are designed to sit higher on the body and work well with high-waisted trousers, skirts, or denim. Longline vests are designed to create a more elongated silhouette and can be worn over shirts, slim trousers, or relaxed tailoring. Oversized vests are intentionally roomier and should feel easy rather than shapeless.
Measuring for the Best Fit
For the most accurate fit, compare the garment measurements on the product page with a similar vest, knit, or sleeveless top you already own.
Lay your own garment flat and measure:
-
Chest width from underarm to underarm
-
Shoulder width from shoulder point to shoulder point
-
Body length from the highest shoulder point to the hem
-
Hem width across the bottom edge
Comparing these measurements will give you the clearest sense of how the vest will sit on your body.
Between Sizes
If you are between sizes, choose based on how you want to style the piece.
For a cleaner, more tailored fit, choose the smaller size.
For a softer, more relaxed layered fit, choose the larger size.
As a general rule, if you plan to wear your vest over shirts or thicker base layers, we recommend sizing up. If you plan to wear it alone or over a thin T-shirt, your usual size should work well.
Fit Notes by Style
Classic sweater vests are designed for everyday layering and usually fit true to size.
Cashmere vests are soft and naturally relaxed, so your usual size should give an easy, refined fit.
Ribbed vests may feel slightly closer to the body because of the knit structure, but they will usually have natural stretch.
Cable knit and chunky vests may feel heavier and more structured, so consider sizing up if you want extra room.
Oversized vests are intentionally cut with more volume. Choose your usual size for the intended relaxed shape, or size down for a neater fit.
Cropped vests are shorter by design. If you want more length or a less fitted feel, consider sizing up.
Final Fit Advice
Choose your usual size for a balanced Momentum fit. Size up for relaxed layering, or size down for a closer silhouette.
The best fit is the one that gives your outfit direction while still feeling comfortable, soft, and easy to wear.
